A father and son theatrical team from New Jersey, Elliott and Michael Taubenslag, are the inspiration behind a new, off-Broadway musical, "How I Survived High School."

Elliott Taubenslag is the author of the show, which is directed by his son Michael.

Currently the show is running at the Jan Hus Theatre, 351East 74th Street (at Second Avenue) in New York.

The endeavor is about the "trials and tribulations" of young people growing up today.

Musical director is Michael Bergman, a Montclair teacher.

Elliott Taubenslag is drama coordinator for the East Brunswick school system. His local theater activities include founding and directing the East Brunswick Summer Children's Theatre.

His previous plays are "Millions of Miles," which starred the late Kay Medford, and "My Name Is Alice," which won the Bucks County Drama Festival.

The elder Taubenslag began his stage career as an actor, appearing with the late Paul Muni in the drama, "Counselor At Law."

Taubenslag's son is a former actor too. Michael began at age 3 working in professional children's theater, before going on to appear in numerous television commercials. He did the voice for "Marky Maypo."

In recent years young Taubenslag has turned to directing, supervising several shows at the Jan Hus Theatre. The Jersey City resident teaches theater workshops at the Middlesex County College in Edison."

How I Survived High School" is produced by the Robert Nicholas Production Company.
